NAC overview

The Network Access Control feature, otherwise known as the NAC, analyses and directs inbound network subscribers to a captive portal where they can:

  • opt-in for data roaming

  • view and purchase data plans and offers

  • view and manage their current data plans

Managing a data plan consists of the ability to pause or terminate the plan as well as cancel or (de)activate a plan.

Basic NAC flow

When a subscriber arrives into your network as a silent roamer, they receive a welcome SMS that invites them to roam on your network. The welcome SMS contains a URL which directs the subscriber to the Captive Portal component of the NAC. It is within this Captive Portal that subscribers can opt-in, purchase plans, and manage their data plans.

If a roaming subscriber attempts to browse without an active plan, they’ll simply be redirected to the Captive Portal. See the Get to know the Captive Portal for more in-depth information regarding the Captive Portal.
